Deputy Clerk / Deputy Treasurer (Part-time)

General Summary:  This position is the deputy to the Clerk / Treasurer for the Village of Newburg, located between West Bend and Saukville. Responsible for serving as receptionist for Village Hall and assisting in the proper administration of elections, licensing, and record keeping for the Village. Also responsible for learning and performing all of the functions of the Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer in their absence.

Schedule: Part-time, 1st shift, 3 days per week (Mon, Tues, Thurs) plus a few evenings per month (generally Thurs.) for public meetings.Average 23 hours per week. Some versatility.

Compensation: $16.50 – $19.00 per hour.

Examples of Duties: Receptionist for Village Hall; greeting visitors and helping to answer questions or find acceptable responses for their concerns. Assist in maintenance of voter information and election reporting. Aid in supervising election workers. Aid with issuing permits and licenses. Assist in preparing agendas, minutes, and public notices. Scanning, filing, or organizing paper records. Office cleaning at Village Hall. Preparing quarterly sewer bills.  Aiding with bank statement reconciliations. Research policy or government related issues. Other administrative work as assigned in an office setting.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or G.E.D. At least 1 year of experience working in an office setting. Ability to read, write, balance a checkbook, and use a computer with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to greet visitors to Village Hall in a pleasant manner and help provide information or solve problems. 

Desired Qualifications: Experience working with elections in municipal government.Experience in A/P, billing, payroll, or accounting. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field.

DPW Director (Part-time)

We’re “building bridges” in the Village of Newburg, WI (Pop. 1,264) and looking for a reliable, hard-working, down-to-earth DPW expert to join our team! Now accepting applications for the position of Superintendent / Director for the Department of Public Works (DPW) for our community located 35 minutes north of Milwaukee, 10 minutes east of West Bend.

This hourly, part-time (10-25 hours/wk.) management role is responsible for the administrative and technical work performed in implementing public work operations, managing snow removal for the Village, parks maintenance, road repair and other duties as assigned. Compensation and schedule are negotiable, but must attend 1-2 evening meetings per month. Applicants shall possess a valid Driver’s License,  be able to obtain a Class B CDL (with air brakes) within 45 days of hire, and be willing to cross-train in sanitary/sewer and emergency response ops if needed. A background in engineering, road work, snowplowing, municipal operations, and supervising others is appreciated, along with the necessary interpersonal and leadership skills to be a competent and respected manager. 

Compensation: $19.00 – $25.00 per hour.
