Dear Village of Newburg Residents:First
of all, I would like to express my gratitude to past President, Walt
Grotelueschen, for leading the Village of Newburg forward in the last 10
years. This was a job well done and to be appreciated by the residents
as well as past and present board members of the Village of Newburg.
You, as the voting public, have given this board which you elected,
the challenge of leading this village into the future. You as citizens
and we as elected officials, have to keep in mind, that these are
changing times and we have to be prepared to meet these challenges.
We are no longer in our own little world. Airport expansion keeps
being discussed, West Bend keeps extending its boundaries, Town of
Trenton and Town of Saukville keeps growing with housing developments.
Reconstruction of Highway 33 and the Main Street of Newburg, which is a
County Highway is on the table and reconstruction of our Village
infrastructure, these are all issues we will have to be prepared to deal
with.
To focus on these issues and the daily operations of our village,
committees have been established. Department of Public Works, handling
the day to day up-keep of the Village. Law Enforcement, keeping our
Village safe by enforcing ordinances, we and past boards have put on the
books as well as state laws. Parks Committee, looking to provide as best
as possible, recreation for young and old. Our Planning Commission, the
eyes into the future.
These committees and others meet once a month (schedule enclosed)
discussing concerns that confront them. This also gives you, the
citizens, a chance to voice concerns and be heard. Your concerns will
either be addressed by the committee at that time, be put on the agenda
for the next committee meeting, or be referred to the Village Board for
action. The Village Board of Trustees meets the 2nd and 4th
Thursday s of the month at 7 p.m.
Every member of the Board of Trustees, President, Committee Members
and other Village employees, except for the Clerk, are part-time with
full-time responsibilities elsewhere. As we look at the future, this
could change. Remember, every change or improvement within the village
and growing pains which could increase citizens expectations has a cost.
Federal and State requirements and mandates passed onto us has a cost.
This cost is shared by you and I, the tax payer.
We as a Board, know we don’t please everyone with the decisions we
make and make for the good of the entire Village of Newburg.
No one should come into these positions with hidden agendas. We
assure you, we will listen and weigh all points of view, before
action is taken.
I will hold office hours on Friday evenings from 6-8 p.m. If for
whatever reason, I am not able to be here, a notice will be posted at
the front entrance.
Hope to see you at a future Board/Committee meeting.
Sincerely,
Bill Sackett
Village President
